It's colors remind me of kindergarten. Red. Yellow. Blue. The smell of ivory soap, chocolate milk and recess. Smooth and worn like an old seesaw with flaking paint. In years to come I imagine it will grow to be too big for its britches and require a strong rubberband (beige most likely or perhaps institutional green) to secure its contents shut.

Or will I keep the contents in check?

When was the last time I made this? A cauliflower gratin. Just that once. Yes, now I recall.

Envelopes.

Looseleaf.

Note cards.

Stained.

Splattered.

Warped.

Inks of red, blue, black and green.

...

I wonder what your box looks like.

  2. I agree with Elisabelle that it's a treasure trove and the colours are charming. Hate to disappoint you but my recipes are in a boring folder so maybe it's time to find a nicer place for them.

  3. I love your recipe box, Tracy!! :-) I'm afraid mine is nothing so lovely - it's a hodgepodge of binders and file folders and stacks tied with ribbon. :-)

  4. All of my favorite paper recipes are packed into a file folder w/ elastic. A bit of a mess, but I kind of like it that way. I like your primary color box.

  5. I bet you know the location of each recipe in the box. Mine are in looseleaf binders by category.

  6. I love the fun colors of this box. Did you paint it? My "box" is just a black binder with the recipes in plastic sleeves. When I remember to organize them in there, that is...

  7. Women's recipes collections interest me a great deal. Historucally, and even now, they are contained in very modest or re-purposed containers. My current motherload of recipes is in an accordion file. Previously, it was my "tenure file." Whilst preparing for tenure I barely cooked. For the first time in my life I ate almost nothing but takeout and frozen foods, and restaurant food. So this is a very apt location now for recipes.
