Patterson Park: Sunday Morning

...

The trees heaved deep silent breaths along the paths.

Steep. Gentle. Flat. Forked.

Our sneakered feet and cool noses led the way from bottom to top and back. Every which way.

Cobbled. Paved. Bricked. Concrete. Faded. Disjointed. Covered. Tread.

I can still feel the chill.

Our hands, warmed from our pockets, rest upon our ears now and then.

The more we move, the warmer we'll get.

He stopped with me. Started, again. Start and stop.

How many pictures do you guess I've taken? 40? 50?

At least that.

We'll find out once we're home...

  1. Yes I can feel the chill but it's still a good place to be. Love your photos so much, especially the first one, they're so haunting and poetic. You make me want to get out and explore right now.

  3. Emily Vanessa - Thank you :) It's funny you should say the images are haunting. The park was once a battlefield. There are cannons on the hill and various statues about in memorial. It is peaceful, though. Tranquil. Amazing that there is a bustling city surrounding it.

Michele - We're fortunate that it's within walking distance of the house.

Christy - Time seems to stand still there. It's a lovely place to calm ones mind :)
