Deep breath.

Here I am, again. Avoiding work.

Nut Bread (Joy of Cooking)

Combine: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup sugar or packed brown sugar (I used dark brown), 2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt.

Beat in: 1 large egg, 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons melted butter (I used olive oil), and (1/2 teaspoon vanilla)—why was vanilla parenthetical text?

Fold in: 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts or pecans (I used both).

Bake at 350 degrees in a loaf pan for about 40 minutes.

And so it went.

...

It needs the parenthetical text, the aforementioned vanilla.

  1. This is more fun than food and wine pairing. Nut bread before Voyager. I hope it was tasty. Last night we had chili with The Adjustment Bureau.
