In Between

IMG_4781

There was one word in the body of the email.

Carbonara?

...

Roll the r's, if you can. It makes all the difference in the world.

My tongue gets caught.

I could tell he was happy the moment he stepped through the door. I, the bacon, had greeted him. Well.

There were mushrooms. Cremini. Two eggs. A mountain of Parmesan. A generous stack of bacon. Fresh parsley from the yard. Tons of black pepper. Shallot, too. And, fusilli.

...

We are constantly reminding ourselves to chew.

  12. Your descriptions of life in the kitchen are as delicious as your recipes. How I wish I could roll my r's for Italian and also Finnish. One the reasons I like Danish is because that letter is pronounced so weakly, although unfortunately the rest of the language is a series of glottal stops. I think I could never learn Spanish with the single and double r.
